In making
your decision, you might like a little background information
on "Cove Park", which has, incidentally, been developed
and operated by the same family for three generations! The
park has been sympathetically established within grounds
that formerly belonged to "Pennsylvania Castle." This was built and run for many years as King George III's summer
retreat and in later years became home to John Penn (the grandson
of William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania USA) when he was
elected governor of this Royal Manor.
Legend
has it that the ghost of John Penn still occasionally appears
walking the grounds in the dead of night!!!
Our main
building, which houses the shop/reception and games room, was
once home to the "Royal Coach and Horses' and even stabled
favourite Royal Race Horses.
All the
walling, steps etc around the park have been traditionally
crafted from the famous "Portland Stone" which was
used to build many of the nation's capital landmarks. The entire
development has the ambience of an historic castle garden.
As we
are set on the cliff top of Portland overlooking Church
Ope Cove we boast some of the finest views in the country,
which you would be able to admire for an impressive 46 weeks
of the year. Access to privately owned units is even available
at Christmas and we don't actually close until January 14th,
remaining so for just 6 weeks. Thus you really will be able
to enjoy your holiday home through all the changing seasons!
Cove Park is a reserved development of approximately 70 exclusive
holiday homes ranging from caravans to brick-built bungalows.
Because of our prime position you can benefit from the tranquillity
of our "Country - Coastal" location, steeped in
history, and still enjoy the convenience of being within a
few minutes' drive of Weymouth. We are approx 1.5 miles from
Portland Bill Lighthouse.
Whilst
we actively encourage the subletting of holiday homes to holidaymakers,
you are, of course, free to reserve them solely for your own
private use if you so desire. Details of Cove Park's letting
scheme are available under the heading "Operating Costs."
Facilities
on the park currently include a shop, games room, launderette,
phone kiosk etc. Pets are welcome on the park but they must
be leashed whilst walking the grounds and excercised off the
park. We are within walking distance of Easton, a village
a variety of shops, a library, local Churches, a
park, cafes and country inns, many of which allow children
and also offer food throughout the day.
Our brick-built bungalows have the benefit of a 99-year lease but the
park does not enforce an age policy with any of our units,
including caravans. You therefore get unlimited value for
money when purchasing a holiday home here!
The caravan
will only be removed from the park if you decide to upgrade
or when you decide to sell. If the caravan is still of a desirable
age, sometimes we can offer you the option of us selling the
caravan for you on its existing pitch or alternatively you
can sell it yourself (but it would then need to be removed
from the park).
